Precision Ag Services is Coming to Tasmania

The same aerial spraying, fertilising, and seeding service already trusted by farms across South East Queensland — now with a dedicated Tasmanian pilot.

What we do in Tasmania

  • Drone spraying. Herbicide, fungicide and insecticide on crops, pasture and hard-to-reach weeds such as blackberry, gorse and ragwort.
  • Seeding and spreading. Pasture oversowing, cover crops and granular fertiliser, including on wet or steep ground.
  • Mapping. Crop health and weed maps to target spraying where it’s needed.

Where we fly in Tasmania

Based in northern Tasmania, we cover the whole state, including:

  • North West Coast: Devonport, Burnie, Smithton and surrounds
  • Launceston and the Tamar Valley
  • Northern Midlands: Longford, Cressy, Campbell Town
  • Central Highlands, Derwent Valley and the Huon

We work across potatoes, poppies, pyrethrum, cropping, dairy and grazing pasture, vineyards and orchards, invasive weeds and difficult to access terrain.

Understanding what farms want and need:

Modern farming asks a lot. Rising input costs, tighter margins, unpredictable weather, and ground that’s often too steep, wet, or awkward for conventional equipment — I’ve seen these challenges firsthand, and it’s exactly why I wanted to bring this technology to Tasmanian farms.

I spent over 20 years on our family farm in the Lockyer Valley before adventuring out into the outback of Queensland, Tasmania and the United Kingdom. These adventures exposed me to different farming practices and styles, environmental challenges and the different struggles that farmers face.

My background means I’m not just flying a drone — I understand what’s actually at stake on the other end of it: a weather window that won’t wait, ground too wet for the rig, chemical costs that add up fast, and the pressure of getting the timing right when a season depends on it.

I’m based in north Tasmania, covering the whole state, and I’m not flying in and out — this is where I live and work. When I’m not flying, you’ll find me dreaming of farming or at the local golf course chasing that elusive hole in one.

FAQs

Do you charge for travel within Tasmania?

Depending on the size of the job and distance from our home base a travel fee may apply. If the job has been quoted as a job figure, then the travel cost is included. Generally, if we offer a hectare rate, we will charge a travel fee outside of a pre-defined area. Unfortunately with the rising price of fuels, we have had to start doing this.

How much does drone spraying cost in Tasmania?

There is a lot of variabilities that go into pricing a job. Some jobs are charged at an hourly rate while some are hectare rates. Normally we would have a quick chat with the person enquiring to get a better understanding of what needs to be done. Sometimes we would even like to do a site visit. Our drone spraying cost guide explains what affects the price and might give you further information on the topic.

Are you licensed to spray in Tasmania?

All of our pilots are registered with CASA and hold all the appropriate licenses to fly and spray with drones in Australia.

Can a drone spray steep or wet paddocks?

Yes. Drones fly over ground a tractor or ground rig can’t reach, with no wheel tracks or compaction, and every job comes with a spray record.

How far ahead should I book?

Generally, at least 2 – 3 days even up to a week. This helps with allow us to manage our workload and still work within the limitations of the weather. However, being farmers ourselves, not everything goes to plan, so even if you rang the day before we would see what we could do to help.
