Sow pasture, cover crops and fertiliser exactly where you need them, even when the ground is too wet, steep or crowded for a spreader. Precision Ag Services is a family-run business based in the Lockyer Valley, with a local pilot in northern Tasmania. We spread seed and granular products by drone across South East Queensland and Tasmania.
What we spread
- Pasture seed. Oversowing and renovating paddocks, including steep hillsides and areas a tractor can’t reach.
- Cover crops. Sowing into standing crops before harvest, so the next crop is established without another pass.
- Granular fertiliser. Urea and other granules for top-ups on wet or cropped paddocks, with no wheel tracks.
- Revegetation and erosion control. Seeding creek banks, gullies, dam walls and disturbed ground.
- Grassland Pellets. Releasing grassland pellets to control invasive weeds and regrowth.
Our spreaders handle granules from 0.5 mm to 5 mm. We can carry 25 to 50kg but depends on which drone is used.
Benefits of Aerial Seeding
Why use a drone for aerial seeding?
- No soil compaction or bogging. Spread after rain without waiting for paddocks to dry out.
- Reach the hard country. Steep slopes, gullies and tight blocks are covered as easily as flat ground.
- Even, mapped coverage. GPS flight plans give accurate swath overlap, and every job comes with a map of where product went.
- Variable rates. Rates can change across a paddock using a prescription map from your agronomist or our own mapping.
- Fast turnaround. A local team means jobs can often fit into the next weather window.
Optimising Crop Growth with Granular Spreading
How a drone seeding job works?
- Quote. Tell us the paddock, area, product and rate. We’ll confirm a price, usually [same day].
- Plan. We map the paddock and set the flight path, rate and swath width.
- Spread. We fly the job in suitable weather and check coverage as we go.
- Report. You receive a job record with the area covered, product, rate and flight map.
You supply the seed or fertiliser, or if you need further support, we can help organise the right product for you.
Where we spread?
South East Queensland, including the Lockyer Valley, Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, the Scenic Rim and Somerset. Tasmania statewide, including the North West Coast, Launceston and the Northern Midlands.
One team for seeding, spraying and mapping
Most seeding jobs work best as part of a season plan. We can map your paddocks first to show where pasture is thin or crops are patchy, seed or spread only where it’s needed, then follow up with weed or pest spraying once it’s established. See how this has worked for other growers in our case studies, or check what drone work costs. Farming in Tasmania? Our Tasmanian pilot covers the whole state.

FAQs
What can a drone seeder spread?
Most free-flowing granules and products from 0.5 mm to 5 mm, including pasture and cover crop seed and granular fertilisers.
How many hectares can you seed in a day?
This is one of the most difficult questions to answer. There are a lot of things that need to be factored in. However, on our best day we have covered 300 hectares at 0.5kg a hectare oversewn pasture seed.
How much does drone seeding cost?
Most jobs are priced per hectare, depending on rate, area, terrain and travel. See our drone spraying cost guide for what affects the price, or ask for a quote.
Can you seed into standing crops?
Yes. Drones spread over the top of the crop without driving through it, which suits sowing cover crops or pasture before harvest.
Are you licensed?
Precision Ag Services maintain a registered ReOC with CASA and all our pilots are CASA-approved commercial drone operators with chemical licenses also. We also have all the required insurances needed to operate in Australia.
